What is OSHA-Compliant Training?

Don't be fooled by training providers that claim their forklift training is OSHA certified. OSHA does not certify individual training providers or their training programs. Look for training that is compliant with OSHA training requirements for content and delivery method. Online training is only partially compliant with OSHA code, and so is training conducted at a third-party training center.
To be fully compliant with forklift and powered industrial truck training guidelines, your employees must be trained on the type(s) of powered industrial trucks that they will be expected to operate, within the facility they will be expected to operate so that they understand the unique characteristics associated with the environment they'll be operating in.

In the worst case scenario, if an employee is involved in a serious or heaven forbid fatal accident while operating the forklift or powered industrial truck, OSHA will arrive at your facility to begin their investigation. One of the very first pieces of evidence that an OSHA compliance officer will ask to see is written training documentation, delivered by someone with the knowledge, skills, and ability for the type of truck the employee was operating at the time of the incident. The OSHA compliance officer will also ask to see the written pre-shift inspection documentation that is required to be on the truck while it is in operation.

The OSHA compliance officer will also ask to see maintenance and service documentation for the truck in question and they will conduct a comprehensive inspection of the area where the incident occurred to look for unsafe conditions that should have been corrected and/or included in the operator's training.

Employee Forklift Training provides the most comprehensive, site-specific employee forklift certification, trainer programs, pedestrian safety, site safety, and accident investigation to determine the root cause(s) of incidents to prevent future recurrence. All our training documentation.

OSHA requires new operator training or re-certification assessments to be completed in the employee's native language. You need to ensure that the employee is able to understand the technical intricacies of trucks in all equipment categories that they will be expected to operate.
Our Spanish instructors ensure your employees understand and comprehend the nuances of equipment operation.

It is not acceptable to place an employee with poor English skills into an English language training course. The employee must be able to understand the instructions, details, safety guidelines, procedures, and technical components of training.

If you attempt to use a translator for your training it will result in an increase in the estimated training time of at least 50% as the information must be translated back and forth. Now calculate the number of employees by the average hourly rate and you can quickly see the benefits of a Spanish speaking instructor delivering your fork truck operator training.
Collateral training materials such as student handouts, booklets, and tests must also be in the employee's native language. This way the employee is able to follow along with the presented information in the same manner as their English speaking co-workers.

Spanish speaking training, across all categories of powered industrial trucks, helps to maintain lower training costs, increase employee comprehension, and understanding and get employees back onto the floor where they are adding value to the business as quickly as possible.
