Employee Forklift Training

Forklift Mixed Equipment OSHA
Compliant Training Programs

Employee Driving a Warehouse Tugger

At 12:40 p.m. on May 22, 2019, an employee was driving a tugger when the employee drove into a parked forklift with the forks in the air and was killed.

EQUIPMENT

The combined fork truck operator's training program can handle multiple types of equipment with no problem.

The determining factor is, does the employee have experience or do they require the full training that includes the lecture portion of the training, hands-on training, employee practice, instructor observation, and coaching?

Currently certified fork truck operators complete a knowledge and skills validation process.

This means employees do not go through a full training course, they complete an evaluation of their knowledge and equipment handling skills to verify that they remain competent to continue operating your fork trucks safely.

WHAT IS A COMBINED FORKLIFT OR EQUIPMENT TRAINING CLASS?

Our mixed equipment OSHA-compliant forklift training is the most frequently requested class by our clients.  The program is designed for companies that require:

  • OSHA-compliant new fork truck operator training;

  • Currently certified fork truck operators who require OSHA-compliant re-certification of their current licenses in one combined class.

This course is designed to maintain low training costs while returning employees back to work as quickly as possible.

This means employees who simply require a re-certification assessment of their skill-sets are not required to complete the full hands-on training program, requiring them to be off the floor for a longer period of time.

How Does

Re-certification Work?

Fork truck operator license re-certification is a pass/fail assessment.  This is NOT a training program.

The re-certification assessment is designed to verify your operators remain knowledgeable, safe, and proficient operators.

Employees will be required to pass each module before being permitted to continue to the next stage of the assessment process.

Employees who do not pass may receive some brief refresher training to help clarify points and be permitted to re-test one additional time.

Employees are permitted two attempts to pass the assessment.

Employees who do not pass the assessment on their second attempt will be dropped and required to complete the New Employee Training.

This requirement is to ensure their safety and that of your employees, assets, material, and to maintain the company's market position

What if my Employee Fails

Re-certification?

Employees who fail to successfully navigate a fork truck license re-certification assessment will not have their operator's license renewed.

Equipment operators will be required to complete a New Employee Training class, at the standard training rate.

There are no refunds for employees who fail to pass their skills and knowledge assessments.

The benefit of an assessment process is to save the employer and employee time and money by affirming the employee maintains the requisite skills and knowledge to continue to operate the equipment safely.

OSHA approves of skills and knowledge assessments as long as they are conducted by individuals with the requisite skills, experience, and training to evaluate the operator.
