What is Orientation Training?
A TIME TO DRIVE WORKPLACE SAFETY
Equipment orientation is always conducted after operators complete the Employee Forklift Training classroom session.
Employees then progress to the hands-on equipment orientation module.
Here, employees will learn about the features, operating controls, pre-operation inspection requirements, safety elements, red-tag procedures, and more before being allowed to drive the truck.
In this module, employees are introduced to the physics of load handling, longitudinal and lateral stability, centers of gravity, line of action, and more.

Why is Hands-on Training So Important?
The hands-on employee orientation is required for each different type of truck the employee will be expected to operate.
This includes similar types of equipment with different control surfaces, i.e. sit-down forklifts from crown and Toyota may be of the same category of truck but have different controls requiring employees to receive training on the specifics of the operation of that truck.
Successful completion of this module is required prior to moving to the operator training module.
